At the State Capitol, AGNC stands as a steadfast advocate for Northwest Colorado. In 2024, we engaged with over 129 bills, taking official positions on 72. Through lobbying, direct testimony, and committee work, we influenced several key policy decisions.

Key Accomplishments

  • Defending Science-Based Wildlife Management - We opposed Proposition 127, a ballot-driven wildlife measure that bypassed scientific expertise in favor of “ballot-box biology.” Our rallies in Grand Junction and Denver amplified opposition, ensuring that wildlife management remains grounded in science.
  • Fighting Federal Overreach - We opposed the proposed designation of the Dolores Canyon National Monument, ensuring that local voices were integral to the discussions.
  • Challenging Deceptive Environmental Regulations - We pushed back against the Air Quality Control Commission’s GEMM Phase 2 rule, exposing harmful emissions regulations that threatened regional economic stability.
  • Securing Fair Representation - We led a coalition of 20 organizations to oppose an anti-rural gubernatorial appointee to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Commission, safeguarding Northwest Colorado’s economic interests.
  • Supporting Rural Entrepreneurs - We backed HB24-1001, ensuring continued incentives under the Rural Jump-Start Program to drive business growth.
  • Advocating for Nuclear Energy - We championed SB24-039, securing nuclear energy’s recognition as a clean energy source to ensure rural representation in discussions about expanding future nuclear energy options.
  • Opposing Onerous Oil & Gas Fees - We fought against SB24-230, preventing new fees that would have burdened rural energy producers and financially strained local economies.
  • Protecting Coal Transitioning Communities - Through SB24-190, we enhanced Rural Enterprise Zones by securing amendments, opposing harmful policies, and working behind the scenes to protect the interests of Northwest Colorado’s coal-transitioning communities.
